Removing incrustations in the oven made easy

Encrustations in the oven are not uncommon. Due to the high temperatures, even the smallest food residues and fats burn in. The incrustations cannot be removed with conventional dishwashing liquid and a sponge. For this purpose, there are 2 home remedies that you can use immediately. Oven spray is not needed for this purpose.

Preparation tips

1. empty the oven

In order to get to all the encrustations without any restrictions, you need to completely empty the oven. There is limited space inside the oven. These include baking trays or racks. Likewise, you should remove covers from the oven, as they are easier to clean outside the oven cavity.

2. switch off the oven

Be sure to turn off the oven before cleaning it. If you used it a short time before, it needs to cool down. This way you will not burn yourself on the oven tube.

3. do not use scratching cleaning utensils.

Never clean the inside of the oven with steel wool or the rough side of a sponge. This will only cause scratches.

Remove incrustations with baking soda

Baking soda is an effective household helper. Mix one packet of the powder with 50 ml of water until a paste is formed. This is applied directly to the incrustations. Do not be surprised if the mixture foams. The baking soda is now working.

After about 30 minutes, remove the paste with a hand brush. The soiling is now dissolved and can be wiped away with a damp cloth. Depending on the intensity of the soiling, you may need to use the procedure a second time.

Remove incrustations with salt

If you don’t have any baking soda available at the moment, you can also use salt as an oven cleaner . Conventional table salt is quite sufficient for this purpose, while rock salt must first be ground. The finer the salt, the better.

Dampen the oven from the inside with a wet cloth. Especially the incrustations should be wetted with water. Now cover the soiling generously with salt until it is completely covered. Set the oven to 50°C and wait until the salt has turned a brown color. On average, this will take one hour.

Turn off the oven and sweep the salt out of the oven with a hand broom. Wipe once with water and the oven should be clean again.
