After 2 weeks it just all the sudden stopped working. Was very careful with it all the time. Very disappointed

Dont give your money away because of a brand name. Thats what I basically did in buying the Bosch laser. The Dewalt was less than half the price, comes in a hard case and if you look at the pictures the laser is just better. What more needs to be said. And please notice the Bosch is sitting slightly higher than the Dewalt on the wall and still doesnt show up with as solid a line on the ceiling… Shame.

The uses for this are endless. So far I have used this to square-up exterior doors I was installing in my house, which was much better than having to go to the level all the time because I could see the laser line as I was shimming. I also used it to place extra outlets in a wall and keep them at the same height as the existing outlets, and I had a friend who used it to paint stripes on his walls. With a tripod this thing is deadly and you will find more and more ways to put this to use guaranteed!

**UPDATE** I still really love it. I have used this to tile my tub surround, put up wainscoting (to level my baseboards, cap molding, and nailing to studs), screwing in new drywall to studs, installing shelving in my garage, level bathtub when installing, and should have used this to level my floor joists with furring strips when I reinstalled a subfloor (kicking myself for that last one).

My ONLY gripe is I wish it had a better, more versatile bracket for mounting, because my tripod only goes so low and can get in the way. Though I have used the magnets mounted on the device, if I recall correctly I have yet to use the included bracket.

Expensive yes; needed maybe. It arrived and within minutes I was putting up shelves like a man possessed or as instructed, you might say. Without regard for level or placement or my own safety all was completed. This bit of kit does the lot. Its more accurate than my partner and never disagrees. If it got a round in it would be perfect and I would be single

Growing really tired of getting products on Amazon that were clearly used and returned…then shipped back out to other customers, sometimes clearly flipped with no attempt to hide the evidence, let alone factory or even certified refurbish. I stopped buying regular refurbished tools after bad luck, definitely wouldn’t buy a laser level that has been used, regardless of “refurb” status. With a fragile laser level I was very careful opening, and I thought it was odd the thing flopped around in loose in the case when i picked up the package. Opened, noticed the black thumb print on the manual that was loose in the box, then on closer (and very careful) inspection I noticed the white greasy substance on different parts of the case, and greasy thumbprints on both the close-latches…and I had never closed them, literally opened package 10 minutes before writing this. Didn’t even install the batteries or turn on. Ordering another and will leave another review when it arrives, I’m immediately returning this one.

Product worked good for 1 job, was not abused in anyway. It stopped working, I swapped the batteries out with some new Duracell’s and then some new energizer batteries. Nothing.

A good quality item that I initially purchased to help me to accurately tile a bathroom. It has proved to be a most useful device which I have now used on numerous DIY projects. Battery life is good and the brightness of the red laser perfectly sufficient for indoor use. I was able to use my existing SLR photographic tripod with this device, without having to go to the additional expense of purchasing a dedicated model. This review would be 5 stars but for the following reasons – the laser beam is not as tightly focussed as on some comparative (but more expensive) devices, and the unit lacks a pendulum lock. For value for money though, it’s unbeatable. Note: if you do buy one be sure to register it with DeWalt within a month of purchase, in order to take advantage of a much extended warranty.

Worked ok for 8 months then the horizontal line went very dim now the hole thing has stopped working and i have no return option says “return window closed may 18” (one month after I brought it)

Easy to use. There are buttons for both vertical and horizontal lazers. Tap on, tap off. The swivel magnets are priceless. The accessory clamp seems neat. Didn’t use it yet. The case is sturdy and fits the components well. Haven’t used in daylight yet but I expect the other reviews to be accurate about limited visibility. I found myself using it for more than I expected. Since I bought this, my hairline returned to highschool status, my unit grew 3 inches in length overnight, neighborhood women have started a fight club on my front lawn to compete for breeding rights with me. My dog even picks up her own poop for me now. The ROI on this product is 1000x.
    Would recommend.

I bought this because I decided to rebuild a fence on my property that was falling apart. I decided to build it from individual pickets instead of going with pre-made fence panels available at the big box hardware stores simply because they are of such poor quality.

The results speak for themselves. I used the DW088K to esure my cross members were level and my pickets were plumb. I attached a photo of the finished job. I never could have acheived that level of precision with just a bubble level.

I utilized an old camera tripod from the thrift store to mount the level. My only complaint is that it is very nearly impossible to see in sunlight. The Dewalt laser glasses help, but I found that working early or later in the day worked much better than mid day.

Overall, no regrets. I am quite pleased with the utility of it.

I do tend to buy Dewalt for all my power tools so this was an obvious choice for me.
It fits on my camera tripod which makes it really flexible, but if you want to use it outside, you need to wait until daylight has gone in order to see the laser line.
Inside, the laser appears endless in either vertical or horizontal plane. Marvellous for anything you want indoors.
I actually bought it for a project I’m doing outdoors, but using it in the dark was necessary but really worked. I just took a photo in the dark with my iPhone and everything was clear.
So all in all I’m very satisfied.

I just didn’t research this enough before I jumped in and purchased it.
This isn’t the fault so much of the tool, it was mine for not be thorough.

    – It’s a RED line laser, not the newer GREEN line. The line was also a little thick.
    – It’s only two dimensional, not three
    – It only projects the lines forward, not 360 degrees. Will not project a line completely around a room (for chair rails, etc).
    – Because of above, not able to use for flooring or ceilings.
    – Does not have a lock for the self-leveling mechanism. I know, I know, DeWalt probably has this all figured out but it really bothered me to have the level keep “clanging” whenever it moved …

I finally settled for a Huepar 3-line 360 degree ($178.49 with Amazon coupon, vs. $149 DeWalt, at the time).
This filled all of the above requirements plus much more.

Very disappointing this laser – purchased just over 12 months ago – noticed it was quite severe on batteries at the beginning (kept turning off once replaced)
    – however it has been sitting in storage the last few months (minus the batteries) and now it WONT turn on with new Duracell batteries.. the odd flash when trying to turn on
    Extremely disappointed
