This is a fantastic piece of engineering – heavier than plug-in pressure washers, but a lot more manouverable and with less constraints (you can take this as far as your hose allows) than the plug-in types.
It took a good 45 minutes to assemble from the box, although instructions were simple enough to follow. Once connected, it was easy to start (using a standard cord pull). You have a choice of connectors depending on the type of cleaning you intend to do (e.g. cleaning the car, pressure washing the driveway etc.) – these were a little harder to change over than expected. The unused connectors can be stored on the body of the pressure washer when not in use.
There is a detergent storage compartment for washing your car, which was very simple to use and produced great results.
When cleaning the driveway, it took a bit of trial and error to choose the correct connector, but once this was done, the actual cleaning process was very simple and produced extremely impressive results.
I would suggest that this is serviced fairly regularly, and would check the oil prior to each use. This should give you many years of use as the build quality is excellent.

Not a review because I have not used other brands but rather some thoughts after having owned this pressure washer for a couple of years.

    • If you have not used a petrol powered pressure washer before, starting the engine can be daunting at first because the engine on this model is very loud
    • Briggs & Stratton have many spare parts/accessories available and this is an advantage compared to other brands. There are also a large number useful videos on their YouTube channel
    • Blue smoke billowed for the first time for me but this disappeared after a minute. If this continues, it could be the result of oil having seeped into the air filter due to improper storage
    • Fuel can become stale when stored over 30 days so always add a fuel additive/stabiliser before adding fuel. Otherwise you will need to drain fuel from the engine using a pump or run the engine until it stops from lack of fuel. Briggs & Stratton have their own brand of additive/stabiliser which is easily available online
    • Pull the starter cable while keeping the red spray gun trigger pressed. In other words, hold the pressure gun in one hand with the trigger pressed, and then pull the starter cable with the other hand
    • Do not set the throttle at full power/to the rabbit symbol when pulling the starter cable. Moving the throttle lever up to the middle should suffice to start the engine
    • Do not store the machine upright/vertically when not in use. This is will cause engine oil to seep into the air filter
    • Purchasing a dirt blaster is a must have for all pressure washers
    • The supplied rubber hose very easily gets tangled up. Be careful not to let the hose touch the engine whenever manoeuvring, or else the hot engine will melt a hole into the rubber (I have unfortunately done this and had to purchase a replacement part)

It seems buying a petrol pressure washer in the Uk isn’t as straight forward as you might think. Reading many reviews you probably wouldn’t go near one as build quality seems to be a major issue across the board. Reading between the lines Simpson seem to make the best pressure washer, however they only seem to be available in the US?? So I have cast aside my trusty Karcher and gone for this Briggs Stratton unit, hoping that with the extra pressure it will work better with a surface cleaner. There is very little to set up, however I did have to bend the handle bar to align it with the main unit. After filling the oil, fuel and connecting hoses, I was ready to go. Started ok after about 3 pulls, but straight away I noticed water leaking from the connector to the gun, it turn out to be a spilt O ring, disappointing, but I managed to replace it temporarily with another O ring until I could get Amazon to send another(which they are sorting).
    Annoying but these things happen.
I cannot review this machine fully yet, but after using for a very short time it seems to work well, with plenty of pressure, the only thing so far that I really dislike is the high pressure hose, it’s just a hard plastic hose which is like a coiled spring, it pulls on you all the time whilst your using it, in the long run it’s something I would change. I shall update this post in a few months.

This seems like an all singing all dancing machine, with lots of useful bits and features. It is pretty easy to set up, but after following all instructions to the letter the engine started, died in a few seconds then refused to go again. It has apparently seized, not good news for an engine. Now it is just a useless lump. I am less than impressed.

Straight out of the box, an easy set up. The build of the machine was quite simple and no instruction were really required but a well versed instruction booklet was supplied with the machine. I topped the engine with the required amount of oil added fuel and ready to go. This is my 2nd Briggs and Stratton pressure washer and the build and quality is very similar to the fist one i owned. If i had any gripes i think the hose/nozzel attachment is the worst part of the machine. The lance clips in to one side and the handle rests on an upright bracket i do wonder how long these will remain in place as the plastic over time wears and looses its flexibility. The older machine i had these items dropped into holes so they were not relying on plastic clips, that said out of the box it all works. The machine started pretty much the first couple of pulls and i have had no issues since. Noise it is as it says the DB is quite noisey and i would suggest ear plugs but i have heard louder ones so not really an issue. A good range of jet sizes again the same as the older machine i owned with plenty of power and flow. So currently no complaints a good well built and hopefully long lasting pressure washer, time will tell as i have only had the pressure washer a couple of weeks.

Faulty – oil leaks from engine after 3 uses. Repaired by dealership and same fault on first use.
