Is a breadmaker useful at all?
In many kitchens there is already hardly any space left for new electrical appliances. Whether the purchase of a bread maker is actually useful and worthwhile, and whether it actually brings benefits, we have examined in detail in our article.
Bread as a staple food
Bread is one of our staple foods and is eaten practically all the time. We rely on supermarkets or the bakery to buy it – but the trend is increasingly towards home baking.
The quality of bread plays an important role for many: it should be as fresh as possible, free of additives and it should taste good.
Advantages of the breadmaker
If you use a breadmaker, it brings some advantages compared to bought bread or bread baked in the oven itself:
- the bread is always fresh
- the bread contains only the ingredients that you put in it yourself
- there are no additives or baking aids
- the bread can be made according to individual taste
In contrast to baking in the oven, there are other advantages:
- the effort is much lower – the machine does all the work itself
- the energy consumption is lower
- the bread dries out less during baking
- the baking process does not need to be supervised
- the energy costs for baking are significantly lower
But the most important advantage for many is that you can freely determine the composition of the bread yourself, and that only the ingredients you put in your bread are used. The question “Breadmaker yes or no?” therefore hardly arises. Those who eat a lot of bread will always benefit from it in terms of fish, taste and ingredients.
Costs for baking with the breadmaker
With the bread baking machine the costs of the acquisition strike first, afterwards however the operating cost is small.
One has the choice of either conveniently using ready-made bread baking mixes, or mixing the ingredients oneself. The costs are then around 0.60 – 1.00 pound for one loaf, depending on how large the bread is to be and whether one uses ready-made mixtures or one’s own ingredients.
Electricity consumption is extremely low, in most cases the cost of the electricity required will be around the 7 – 10 cent range for the entire baking process.
The purchase of a breadmaker is also financially worthwhile. Depending on the price of the bread maker, the purchase will have paid for itself in a short time.
