Cleaning the top of the oven – only 3 steps
While there are good home remedies for many household tasks and around the oven, even many cleaning devils are at a loss when it comes to cleaning the upper regions of an oven. In some ovens, the heating elements can be removed or moved, but even then it is not easy to get to the inner top of the oven. Here are some tips.
Heating elements in the way
Read the oven’s instruction manual. With many ovens, there is a way to move the heating elements out of the way that you may not know about. Unfortunately, manufacturers disagree on this and the function is always different. On some ovens, the heating rods can be pulled out completely, while on other ovens, the heating rods can be folded down after pushing a small slider to the side.
Step by step cleaning the top of the oven
- Brush
- microfiber cloth
- Bucket
1. soap
First, check if the heating elements can be removed or moved as described above. Then, using a wide brush, apply the oven cleaner gel to the inner cover on top. Foam does not work as well as a gel type cleaner in this case.
2. soak in
If possible, let the cleaning gel soak into the dirt overnight. If the gel mass dries too quickly, you can spray a little water on it in between, or brush some cleaner on again.
3. wipe off
When the cleaner has had enough time to dissolve the dirt well, you can simply wipe it off with a microfiber cloth and clear water. Unfortunately, you need to be thorough when doing this so that you don’t have any cleaner under the heating rods later on. Afterwards, don’t forget to put the heating rods back in or fold them up.
